How Our Creative Power Will Change the World
“Everybody has a creative potential and from the moment you can express this creative potential, you can start changing the world.” – Paulo Coelho
“We are living a unique moment in the course of human history / marked by economic uncertainty, political extremism, and information overload. / Within this increasingly fragile context, our individual choices matter more than ever: / they form part of an dynamic web of actions and reactions.”
Above are the opening lines to a poem I wrote about the power of our creative will to change the world. You can find the full text of the poem at the end of the article.
As individuals, we must shift the way we operate in the world so we can command our inner reality, and create a balance so powerful that the frenetic changes outside can’t affect our sense of harmony and wellbeing.
How To Find Balance
The notifications, beeps, and alerts that make up our everyday lives disconnect us from our sense of balance and purpose. We can create a healthier relationship with technology by minimizing distractions and consciously redefining the way we interact with it.
Since the inception of the industrial age, which celebrates overproduction, we have nurtured a lifestyle of stress and anxiety. Today, we function as a over-caffeinated, over-stimulated, and often unconscious society. In order to make conscious change, we must cultivate a deeper awareness of ourselves, and the environment around us.
This fast-paced lifestyle has overworked our nervous and adrenal systems. If we want to redefine our reality, we must first strengthen our nervous system, and build our physical capacity to cope with stress.
Set the Mind Aside
We live in a world which has celebrated logical thinking and over-trained our mental faculties at the expense of our bodily, creative, and intuitive capacities. In order to thrive we have to access our creative potential and intuitive power. These will serve us powerfully in times of uncertainty and information overload.
Use Technology for Good
We are heading into an economic, political, and cultural reality that is increasingly divisive and uncertain, and we have access to powerful technologies—artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, virtual reality—that can improve or exacerbate these realities. We must cultivate our creative potential and devise innovative solutions to existing challenges so we can actually use these tools to our benefit, not our detriment.
The Good News?
We have access to powerful ancient tools, rituals, and technologies which will help us radically shift the way we interact with ourselves and the world. They will help us cultivate compassion, build resilience, create balance, and develop our creative capacity to make conscious change within a fast-paced world.
These tools include:
- Breathwork: To strengthen our capacity to withstand stress and external shifts.
- Movement: To reconnect with our bodies, as a way to harness a natural source of energy, and tap into a deeper level of wisdom.
- Meditation: To quiet the mind, and cultivate intuition.
- Holistic Nutrition: To increase our body’s capacity to heal and replenish in times of stress.
- Creative Expression: To access our intuition, and capacity to imagine alternate realities.
If we want to live in a world that is bright and lush,
Safe and Zen, we have the capacity to make it so.
But first we must breathe,
And Turn off the noise,
So we can

It’s time to redefine our inner and outer reality in a conscious way. The world needs our creative courage more than ever before.
We are living a unique moment in the course of human history
marked by economic uncertainty, political extremism, and information overload.
Within this increasingly fragile context, our individual choices matter more than ever:
they form part of an dynamic web of actions and reactions.
In order to cope and thrive within this complex reality,
we need to become more active participants
of our individual and global reality.
We must tap into our creative potential:
the capacity to create our world,
From the inside out,

in order to make change.
The stakes are higher than ever before

| The trouble |
We don’t always recognize the power within:
the ability to shape our thoughts and feelings,
which in turn define our words,
actions, and reactions.
Now, more than ever before…
The world needs us to become conscious creators,
artists, sculptors, and visionaries of our everyday life.
We need to shift from a passive and apathetic mode,
to a conscious and proactive one.
The world needs our creative courage:
The capacity to access our creative potential,
To imagine and craft alternate realities,
from a place of love,
For ourselves and the planet.
We are creating the world,
From the inside out…
Action, and Reaction.
Whether we want to or not.
