TUOLUMNE MEADOWS IN YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK
Whether you have a couple of days to explore Tuolomne Meadows or can take off three to four weeks to trek the John Muir trail, Yosemite is even more beautiful and majestical than you may have heard. Chock full of glistening alpine lakes, meadows with rare wildflowers and trails that lead to mind-opening views, Tuolomne Meadows is the perfect launching point for incredible day hikes and short backpacking trips.

UPDATE: Due to the massive Ferguson Fire that spread through thousands of acres just west of Yosemite earlier this month, travel to the park at this time may not be advised. Consider bookmarking this information for a future trip and educating yourself on fire safety when camping or exploring the great outdoors.
SHORT BACKPACKING TRIP:
THE LOST COAST IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA
Escape the crowded and polluted metropolis, and adventure to the wild and scenic Lost Coast of Northern California. You will find yourself walking along pristine beaches with Sea Lions lounging on the shore. Gaze up at towering ancient Redwood trees covering the coastal mountain range and camp on the beach while ocean waves lull you to sleep.
Located six hours north of San Francisco and two hours south of Eureka, getting to the Lost Coast requires fun companions and a dose of determination. The trail starts at Mattole and ends 24.6 miles later at Black Sands Beach near Shelter Cove. We recommend joining up with a friend to make a shuttle run or planning a longer six-to-eight day out-and-back trip (49.2 miles). You can also book a shuttle service for $85/person. Make sure you check the tides and book your BLM permit before you go.

THE JOHN MUIR TRAIL IN THE SIERRA NEVADA
